[US SIM Plan (eSIM)] Steps to Get Started

This guide explains how to get started after ordering your US SIM Plan (eSIM).
Please follow steps ① through ⑤ in order.

Check SIM Unlock Status & Supported Frequency Bands

■ How to Check SIM Unlock Status

Please confirm that your smartphone is SIM-free or SIM-unlocked.

< iPhone >

"Settings" → "General" → "About" → scroll down → "SIM Lock"
→ If it shows "No SIM restrictions", your device is unlocked.

< Android >

"Settings" → "About device" → "SIM card status"
→ If it shows "Allowed", your device is unlocked.

※ Menu names may vary by device model or OS version.
※ If your device is still SIM-locked, please contact the original carrier or retailer to unlock it.

■ Supported Frequency Bands & VoLTE

Your device must support the following:

4G: VoLTE / Band 2, 4, 12, 66, 71

5G: n71, n41

※ iPhone 6s and later models are all compatible.
※ To check compatibility, enter your IMEI number at T-Mobile BYOP Check.

Order Your US SIM Plan

Visit our plan page, select the US SIM Plan (eSIM), and complete your order following the on-screen instructions.

※ For physical SIM cards or other items shipped by mail, please wait until they arrive before proceeding.

Register Your eSIM Info (EID & IMEI) in My Page

Go to My Page → "Usage Status" and enter the following information, then tap [Save].

EID number (32 digits)

IMEI number (15 digits)

▼ How to find your EID & IMEI

iPhone (Apple): "Settings" → "General" → "About"

Android (standard): "Settings" → "About device"

※ Some devices: "Settings" → "System" → "About device"

? You can also dial "*#06#" on your phone app to display your EID and IMEI numbers.

※ If both "IMEI" and "IMEI2" are shown, please use "IMEI" (IMEI2 is not required).

Check for the Registration Confirmation Email

Once your EID is registered, you will receive an email with the subject:
"eSIM Number Registration Confirmation"
Once received, proceed to the next step.

Submit an Activation Request via My Page

Go to My Page → "Activation Request" and follow these steps:

  1. Log in to My Page using the email address and password you registered with.
  2. Under "Activation Request," fill in the required information, number transfer details, and optional plans as prompted.
  3. Enter your ZIP Code and Desired Start Date — both are required.
    ※ You may use the ZIP code of your hotel, workplace, or school.
  4. Review all information, then click [Submit Activation Request].
  5. You will receive a confirmation email with subject: "SIM Activation Request" — your request is complete.

✅ Activation Completion Email

On your desired start date (US time), you will receive an email with subject:
"SIM Activation Complete" — usually in the morning or afternoon.
Please follow the instructions in the email to complete your eSIM activation.
※ Activation begins after our business hours start (9:00 AM PST).

⚠️ Important Notes

  • Plan charges begin from your activation start date.
  • If your start date falls on a weekend or holiday, the activation email will be sent on the preceding Friday or the last business day before the holiday.
  • The activation email may be filtered into your spam folder. Please add customer@universalmobile.us to your trusted senders list.
  • If you are transferring a phone number from another carrier, your actual start date may differ slightly. Do not cancel your current plan until the transfer is complete.
  • Only US mobile phone numbers can be transferred (Japanese numbers cannot be ported in).
  • eSIM activation can only be performed within the United States. Please complete this step after arriving in the US.
