How to Request SIM Activation (Physical SIM Card)

Modified on Thu, Sep 17 at 1:15 PM

◆◆ Please be sure to request SIM activation before your service starts. ◆◆

To request SIM activation, please complete the procedure through My Page, which can be accessed from the upper-right corner of the UNIVERSAL Mobile website.

① Log in to My Page using the email address and password you registered when creating your account.

② Select “Request Activation” and enter or select the required information, phone number transfer information, and optional plans by following the instructions on the screen.

③ Be sure to register your ZIP Code and desired service start date.

※ You may also enter the ZIP Code of your hotel, workplace, or school.

④ After reviewing all the information, if everything is correct, click “Request Activation.”

Once you receive the email with the subject “SIM Activation Request”, your request has been successfully submitted.

Your phone number and instructions for using optional plans will be provided in the“SIM Activation Completed” email on yourdesired service start date (U.S. date).

※ Your plan charges will begin on your service start date.

※ If you are transferring your phone number from another carrier, the actual service start date may be earlier or later than your requested date. Please do not cancel your current service until the number transfer has been completed.

※ Japanese mobile phone numbers such as 090 or 080 cannot be transferred to our U.S. SIM.

◆◆ Phone Number Transfer (Number Portability) ◆◆

Before submitting your request, please confirm with your current carrier that all payments for your mobile device have been completed,

and that the SIM lock on your mobile device has been removed.

To transfer your phone number, you will need your current carrier name, account number, and PIN/password.

※ Please contact your current carrier if you need information such as your account number.

During the approximately half-day to 3-business-day period required to complete the number transfer, please continue using your current SIM card.

Once the number transfer is complete, your current SIM card will stop receiving cellular service.

At that time, please replace it with the SIM card we send to you.

As a precaution, we recommend carrying your new SIM card with you after submitting your SIM activation request.

If the information provided is incorrect, or if your previous carrier takes time to approve the transfer, there may be various reasons why the process is delayed.

In some cases, the transfer may not be completed within the expected timeframe.

Therefore, please make your SIM activation request well in advance to allow sufficient time for the process.
